“Kids Without Cancer Zebra Fish Research Initiative”

“Kids Without Cancer Zebra Fish Research Initiative” Lab is conducting ongoing research…….

The most exciting endeavor in our 42 year history…… As we enter our 42nd year of fundraising, Kids Without Cancer is very proud of the fact we have raised over $5 million which has been donated to Children’s Hospital of Michigan and their affiliates, Wayne State University/Karmanos Cancer Institute.

This journey has not been easy. To accelerate progress, we at Kids Without Cancer decided to take a bold step in our quest to find a cure.  In 2017 the research doctors at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in collaboration with professors from Wayne State University approached Kids Without Cancer with a proposal to start our very own research lab.  Our members reviewed the proposal and unanimously approved $356,000 to fund the project for the next 10 years with options to continue beyond.

The lab is located in Scott Hall at Wayne State University’s main campus.  The lab named the “Kids Without Cancer Zebra Fish Research Initiative” is capable of conducting up to seven pediatric cancer research projects simultaneously.  We currently have three ongoing research projects in the new lab.  In addition, each project requires approximately $100,000 in annual funding.  We need your support to fund another 4 research projects to take advantage of the lab’s capability.   This lab is our future and will give our children a fighting chance to beat cancer and live a long and prosperous life.
